At SkillSetGo, we create joyful, inclusive spaces where preschool-aged children can practise social and emotional skills through play-based, guided interactions.
Our Saturday sessions are designed to be predictable and supportive, with small groups, a calm environment, and a team that understands how to help children feel safe, included, and ready to participate. Families come to us looking for a program that fits real life, supports school readiness, and builds confidence with peers, without adding weekday pressure.
SkillSetGo is a play-based early intervention program delivered by Adams Lane Early Intervention, an NDIS-registered provider.
Our programs are designed to support preschool-aged children, especially those on the autism spectrum, to build:
Each session runs for 3 hours in a calm, preschool-style environment with small groups (6 children).
Sessions are designed with:
This structure helps reduce anxiety, build participation, and support children to practise skills with peers in a safe and supported way.
As children approach kindergarten, the development of personal independence becomes increasingly important. Skills such as managing personal belongings, following classroom routines, and engaging in self-care are expected of children in school settings. Our program provides targeted support in these areas, helping children practice and master tasks such as organising their belongings, managing transitions, and completing daily routines independently. We prepare children to confidently meet the expectations of kindergarten and develop a sense of ownership over their responsibilities.
Children with autism may face challenges in regulating their emotions, often due to sensory processing difficulties or environmental factors. At times, emotional dysregulation can also stem from gaps in other developmental areas, such as delayed receptive and/or expressive language or limited social skills. Understanding the underlying causes of behaviour is crucial to providing the right support. Our early intervention program, in a small group setting, creates a safe and supportive space where children can learn and practice emotional regulation skills. Through individualised strategies, we help children manage their emotions, respond to sensory stimulation, and build self-regulation tools for future success.
Cognitive regulation refers to a child’s ability to control their thought processes, focus attention, and manage tasks. Children with autism may experience difficulties in these areas, such as maintaining focus, transitioning between activities, or managing problemsolving tasks. Our program emphasises cognitive skill development through engaging, hands-on activities that promote concentration, memory, and flexible thinking. We provide individualised support to help children improve their cognitive regulation, enhancing their ability to learn, adapt, and succeed in classroom settings.
Peer-to-Peer Relations:
Developing positive peer relationships is a vital part of a child’s social development. For children with autism, interacting with peers can sometimes be difficult due to communication barriers or social misunderstandings. Our program fosters peer-to-peer interactions in a safe and structured environment, where children can practice making friends, sharing, and collaborating with others. Through guided group activities and social play, we support children in building meaningful relationships with their peers, enhancing their social confidence and ability to connect with others.
Social interaction and communication can be particularly challenging for children with autism. Our program offers a structured environment where children can practice social skills with peers. Through guided play, collaborative activities, and role-playing, our specialised team provides the support needed for children to develop positive social behaviours. We focus on helping children understand social cues, engage in appropriate social exchanges, and navigate group dynamics with confidence and empathy.
Adaptive behaviour refers to the practical, everyday skills needed for personal independence and social responsibility. Children with autism may experience challenges in areas such as self-care, following routines, and adapting to new environments. Our early intervention program helps children develop these skills through structured activities and guidance. We focus on teaching adaptive behaviours such as toileting, dressing, and following instructions, all while encouraging children to be active participants in their own learning and development. This support lays the foundation for independence and prepares children for the demands of school life and beyond.
Building confidence is key to a child’s ability to engage and participate in their environment. Our program is designed to empower children by offering opportunities for them to take on new challenges, celebrate small victories, and build resilience. Through positive reinforcement and supportive guidance, we help children become more involved in group activities and take initiative in their learning. This confidence will serve them well as they enter school and face new situations.
